Old Dutch Master Gouda

Old Dutch Master Gouda is a real treat for Gouda connoisseurs and Gouda-newbies alike, made from the fresh milk of Friesian cows and naturally ripened for superior cheese eating experience. Both the taste and the texture of Gouda change considerably depending on its age. In this case, the cheese has been aged for around ten months, making it a relatively old Gouda, hence the name "Old Dutch Master." During this long maturation cycle, tiny natural crystals arise - almost like salt - giving the cheese a crunchy, crystalline mouthfeel and rich, nutty flavor. It's so delicious, in fact, that it has earned several awards. Adhering to the Dutch cheese grading system, each wheel is coated in black paraffin wax to denote its Extra-Mature status.

Since it has a very striking flavor, this cheese is best enjoyed alongside drinks and other foods with contrasting flavors, such as on a cheeseboard. Alternatively, shave over pasta, pizza or other dishes. If you really want the authentic Dutch experience, eat cubes of the stuff dipped in French mustard, alongside a strong pale beer or port wine!
