This wonderful sea salt is extracted from the seawater ponds on the shallows of Guerande, in Brittany, France. This rustic, coarse salt has a light grey hue, compliments of the clay at the bottom of the salt pan. Although this salt is simply crushed to a finer texture, it’snot as fine as fleur de sel. Sel gris is moist, which is great for not drying out food while seasoning. Plus, it’s denser than both table and kosher salt, so you need to use less. The silt also enriches this salt with minerals like magnesium, potassium and calcium, making a healthier choice.
Use this salt to season a dish while cooking or to finish a dish. The complex, rich flavors of grey sea salt are great with steak, dense root vegetables, stews and hearty sauces. In a practical shaker presentation for convenience.
Hand-harvested in a traditional manner with wooden rakes in windy, sunny, beautiful Guerande by Le Guerandaise.
