Simple Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 cup + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 7/8 cup Cacao powder
  • 1 and ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp. maple syrup
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • Zest and juice of 1 orange
  • ¾ cup bittersweet chocolate, melted

Directions
  1. Preheat the oven 350°F.
  2. Grease 2 cake molds.
  3. Sift into a bowl the flour, the cacao, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the butter by spoonful mixing with a fork until it mixes.
  5. Add the eggs one a time and mix well after each one.
  6. Pour the maple syrup, the milk and the zest and orange juice.
  7. Divide between the two prepared cake molds and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until you put a skewer in the center and it comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool and unmold.
