This Asian mushroom is cultivated all over the world, and these ones are harvested in our good old US of A. Shiitake mushrooms have a flavor people refer to as "meaty", very intense, and therefore married wonderfully to meats, heavy sauces and stir-fries, or any Oriental dish. Rehydrate in warm water for 20 minutes before using (drain and save the liquid for another dish). We import these mushrooms from Japan, a country that has perfected the art of cooking with them.
